At Anchored Baptist Church, we stand firm on the unchanging foundation of God’s Word. In a world of shifting cultural ideologies, we remain committed to upholding Biblical truth in all areas of life and faith. Below are our positions on key issues affecting the church and society today:
Our View of Israel
At Anchored Baptist Church, we recognise the unfolding of God’s redemptive plan (Romans 11:25–27; Ephesians 3:6), which assigns distinct roles to Gentiles and Israel. The Church is composed of all believers in Christ—the present remnant of Israel (Romans 11:5) and Gentiles who have been grafted in (Romans 11:17–18)—participating together in His mission of making disciples (Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 2:42–47). Gentiles share fully in salvation by faith, apart from ethnic heritage (Romans 3:28; Galatians 3:28), demonstrating God’s mercy to all nations (Romans 11:30–32). The remnant of Israel consists of those Israelites who have believed in Christ in the present age, showing the ongoing faithfulness of God to His people (Romans 11:1–4). Paul also teaches that God’s promises to Israel will reach their complete fulfilment in the future, when the nation as a whole is restored and brought to salvation (Romans 11:26–27), revealing the complete and progressive outworking of His covenant purposes.
Biblical Justice vs. Social Justice
We affirm that true justice is rooted in God’s righteousness, not in secular ideologies. The Bible commands us to love mercy, act justly, and walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8), but it does not promote division based on race, gender, or social status. We reject ideologies such as Critical Race Theory that redefine justice in a way that fosters resentment and collective guilt. Instead, we stand for Biblical justice, which calls each person to righteousness and personal accountability before God (Ezekiel 18:20).
Race and Identity in Christ
We believe that all people are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and that salvation in Christ unites us beyond earthly distinctions (Galatians 3:28). Our primary identity is not found in race or ethnicity but in our adoption as sons and daughters of God (Ephesians 1:5). Any ideology that prioritises race over faith in Christ contradicts the Gospel’s call to unity and reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18-19).
Complementarianism vs. Feminism
We affirm Biblical complementarianism, which teaches that men and women are equal in value but distinct in role. God designed men to be spiritual leaders in the home and church (Ephesians 5:23, 1 Timothy 2:12), and women to flourish in their God-given roles of support, nurture, and discipleship (Titus 2:3-5). In contrast, modern feminism rejects God’s design for male headship, promoting gender roles that contradict Scripture’s model for the family and church. While we affirm the dignity and worth of women, we reject the feminist movement’s rejection of Biblical authority, its embrace of radical autonomy, and its push for unbiblical roles in the church.
Gender, Marriage, and Sexuality
We affirm that God created humanity male and female (Genesis 1:27) and that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman (Matthew 19:4-6). We reject the cultural push toward gender fluidity, same-sex relationships, and transgender ideology, as these are contrary to God’s design for human identity and flourishing (Romans 1:26-27, Deuteronomy 22:5). While we welcome all individuals with the love of Christ, we do not affirm lifestyles or practices that contradict Scripture. Instead, we call all people to repentance and transformation through Christ (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
Gender-Affirming Care vs. Biblical Identity
As a church, we believe that true healing and identity are found in Christ, not in altering one’s body. The Bible teaches that our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made by God (Psalm 139:13-14), and we reject gender-affirming medical interventions that seek to alter God’s design. Instead, we encourage those struggling with gender identity to seek Biblical counselling and discipleship that leads to freedom in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
The Sanctity of Life
We uphold the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. Abortion is the taking of innocent life, and we stand against it as a violation of God’s command, “You shall not murder” (Exodus 20:13). We support mothers in crisis pregnancies through Biblical counselling and practical assistance, affirming that every life is precious in God’s sight (Jeremiah 1:5).
Forgiveness vs. Cancel Culture
In a world that promotes public shaming and permanent condemnation, we embrace God’s grace and redemption. The Bible teaches that all have sinned (Romans 3:23) but that through Christ, there is forgiveness and restoration (1 John 1:9). We reject “cancel culture” and instead encourage Biblical accountability, repentance, and reconciliation (Ephesians 4:32).
Biblical Stewardship vs. Environmental Extremism
We believe in responsible stewardship of God’s creation (Genesis 1:28), but we do not elevate environmental concerns over our mission to spread the Gospel. We reject the idolatry of the earth (Romans 1:25) and trust in God’s sovereignty over nature, while calling believers to wise and balanced care of His creation.
Biblical Charity vs. Forced Wealth Redistribution
The Bible teaches generosity through cheerful giving, not government-mandated redistribution (2 Corinthians 9:7). While we are called to care for the poor (Proverbs 19:17), we reject economic ideologies that promote class warfare, entitlement, or covetousness. Instead, we encourage hard work, wise stewardship, and voluntary acts of love and charity (2 Thessalonians 3:10).
Our Call to Stand Firm in Truth
Anchored Baptist Church is committed to preaching the Gospel, disciplining believers, and standing firm in Biblical truth. We speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), inviting all people to repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ.
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight.” – 1 Corinthians 3:19
